DeadCity

Devastated by nuclear war, Dead City is a realm of rubble and ruined buildings perfect for knife fighters and teamwork. The small, symmetrical map is well balanced and offers several types of gameplay: brawling near the center, rocket/missile play in tight quarters and sniping opportunities from the corners. Unlike Springfield and Canyon, there is plenty of cover to sneak up on those pesky snipers and take them out.

The center “E” Beacon is a kill zone so pilots will have to be crafty to get in, cap, and get out in one piece. This area is a Hydra and Aphid haven, so make sure to hug those walls close until you’re ready to make your move. Snipers hanging out in the elevated corners are able to hit most places in the center area, so make sure to keep your head up.

Strategy

Quick bots will want to start the map by sprinting to either their elevated corner beacon “D” or “B”, then head down to capture the “A” or “C” beacon. You’ll run into resistance near your opponents’ territory but you may be able to grab it before you head back to cover. Another strategy to grab beacons is to head to your flat corner beacon “A” or “C” and then do the opposite by running towards your enemies’ elevated beacon. This is a more risky strategy as a sniper may already be in place to start taking you out while you run down the stretch.

Medium and heavier bots generally move en masse towards the center “E” Beacon. Along the avenues and in cover is the way to go in order to avoid sniper fire and enemy missiles or rockets. Jumping bots excel in moving about this map as there are many low barriers to traverse.  Short-range and Death Button setups are kings in the short game on Dead City while Trebuchets, Tridents and Zeus are the go-to sniper guns. Medium-range weapons are actually quite ineffective on this map save for the homing missiles which can go over and around the many obstacles scattered on the map.

Keep your eyes on your beacons, the small size of this map means you’ll have many captures both for and against. Beacon Rush can be especially intense in the Dead City.
