That tingling sensation you feel right before the blast? Yep, that’s the Gekko! The longest range light weapon in the game, the Gekko is a unique and, at the right level upgrade, powerful weapon which torches its opponents from across the field.

Able to bypass both Energy and Ancile shields, the 1,100m-ranged weapon can cause havoc on most of its foes from afar while allowing the pilot to maintain distance from retaliatory fire. The Gekko, in lower leagues, can take out most bots and at the minimum force Reds to run for cover and suppress/cover for teammates making the dash for beacons.

While the Gekko excels in open-field maps like Springfield, Canyon, and Yamantau, it falls well short in close quarter maps like Moon and nearby enemies should be avoided as much as possible.

Several buffs from the developers has made the Gekko a more… annoying weapon to go up against, and with a function tweak it unloads its full power with each shot as opposed to “heating” up. Another important note for those facing the Gekko is that its laser beam color changes with each upgrade as does its sound effect. Watch out for reds!

Defending a Gekko is as simple as shielding up. If you’re a Rhino, raise your shield. A Galahad or Gareth can activate theirs and a Bulgasari or Lancelot can rely on theirs which are already built in. Just don’t turn left or right, as you’ll get fried from the sides.
