Game Description:

Punisher is a light slot, short-range rotary cannon. Projectile accuracy decreases with distance. The closer your enemy is, the more damage you will do per expended clip. Automatic firing mode. Fire rounds precisely and separately or in long bursts. Acceleration system. Fire continuously for 3 seconds to activate accelerated state and increase the rate of fire (x1.5). Accelerated state is disabled if firing is stopped for 1 second.

The Punisher you say? Think light machine gun deadly under 200m and a nuisance at up to 500m. Though previously unfit for combat at medium to higher tiers, the Punisher has received several buffs to its damage output and with an added accelerated-fire function – say those four words three times fast – and you’ll get an idea of how many rounds and how quickly the gun shoots!

The Punisher now mainly serves as a suppressive fire weapon which pilots can use to slow down an enemy advance all while doing legitimate damage to Ancile and energy shields. Just remember to keep in mind that the further out you are from your enemies, the further the bullet spread will be, making them less effective (side note: Punishers are effective at taking down an Ancilot’s shield – Ancile on Lancelot – from up to 475m away, generally out of range for most to fire back at you… just let your comrades take it down once the shield is depleted)! A twin-cannon Punisher is available for bots with medium hardpoints so you’ll usually encounter these on Griffins and slightly less on Gareth/Galahads.

The weapon chain of the Punisher includes Molots (similar light hardpoint gun) and the mighty Tempest (heavy hardpoint doing serious damage). As far as specs go, the accelerate fire rate up runs 1.5x the usual firing speed if fired continuously for longer than 3 seconds. Accelerated state is disabled if firing is stopped for more than 1 second or ammo is depleted. That means keep them running hot and heavy!

As far as moving up the tiers, the Punisher and Punisher T are usually replaced by Workshop Point energy weapons such as Magnums and Tarans due to their performance boost and advantage head to head. The Plasma Death Button Griffin consisting of dual Magnums and Tarans are a huge mismatch vs. the guns. Keep your distance if you want to have any chance of besting them.

According to Wiki, the Punisher “could have been inspired by the GAU 8 Avenger, a Gatling gun similar to the Punisher that was equipped on an A-10 Thunderbolt, or “Warthogs” – it fires 30mm rounds.” The more you know, eh?
