Game Description:

Deadly at close range. Fires bursts of bolts of high-temperature plasma, accelerated to enormous speeds. High accuracy.

Pew pew pew times two! The Taran is a medium hardpoint, short-to-medium range plasma gun able to hit targets up to 350m. For a fee of 5,650 WSP from the store, the powerful blaster is a popular addition for Intermediate-to-Masters league setups. It is the premier energy/plasma weapon outside of the Shocktrain/Scourge. It fires eight bursts of four bolts – in each burst, four plasma bolts are fired within a second. It reloads in 4.8 seconds after the eighth burst is fired.

The Taran boasts high accuracy, excellent damage, ability to ignore Energy/Ancile shields and a respectable rate of fire. Pilots can utilize the Taran on the “new” Rogatka to great effect when capping beacons while Gareth and Galahad also boast Tarans along with Magnums due to their similar ranges along with their defensive capabilities against more-powerful output bots like the Carnage and Fujin. Fujins with triple Tarans are terrifying at mid-high tiers and Lancelots rock either Tarans or Orkans to great effect as well. The Plasma Death Button Griffin is a force to be reckoned with at higher levels in top-tier leagues. Dual Magnums and Tarans along with the Griffin’s Jump ability trouble all unshielded bots, even the mighty Dash trio (just watch out for Bulgasari’s shield)! Physical shields can be broken down but remain a formiddable obstacle to the Taran.

Close-quarter combat is where the Taran truly excels – making the center of Dreadnought, Dead City and Valley nice places to play. Canyon, Yamantau and Springfield are tough maps for the Taran to make a lasting impact.

Defending a Taran is as simple as shielding up. If you’re a Rhino, raise your shield. A Galahad or Gareth can activate theirs and a Bulgasari or Lancelot can rely on theirs which are already built in.

According to Wiki, the term “Taran” refers to Ramming in Russian, referencing the brutal amounts of damage several Tarans can deal when combined with itself or other close ranged weapons. “Taran” also means thunder in Gaelic.

As each burst of plasma is fired, one of the red dots visible at the back of weapon disappears. During reload, each the dots reappear one by one.

If using all six Workshop slots continuously, pilots will need to spend 2,453,910 Silver and 11 days to accumulate enough points to buy a Taran. Tarans can also be won in game events by completing specific tasks, certain War Robots Royale games, the Black Market and purchased through daily offers.
